It was Team Hook vs Team Labe in the Single A Coach Pitch Championship Game. Both teams arrived in awe to find they were going to play on the large Liberty field 1. The boys were more excited to sit in the dugouts then warm up but once the game began, it didn’t disappoint. Coach Labe’s team jumped out to a early lead 7-2 but it was Coach Hook’s team who responded with a big 2nd inning to cut the lead to 7-5. The teams battled back and forth with Coach Labe’s team collecting several doubles along the way to extend their lead to 18-13 heading into the final inning, the bottom of the 5th, before Coach Hook’s team exploded to take a 19-18 lead. Then Labe responded with 4 consecutive singles to tie the game at 19-19. An out was then recorded before the next batter took to the plate and drove home the winning run to make the score 20-19 in favor of team Labe. The coaches agreed to finish out the inning and on the next pitch a popup was hit to first baseman Glover who laid out for the ball, catching it and diving back to the bag to record the double play to a standing ovation from both teams. It was a great way to end the Single A season. Both teams lined up, shook hands, and trophies were awarded to each team.
